BYE BYE PEACH HELLO STRAWBERRY
-------------------------------------------------------------
To get the ball rolling much appreciated thanks must go to Wally True, Tony True, and Karen True. From a bare chassis on the monday leading up to labour weekend to a race car ready to race and very presentable as Tony True toiled away in the dark of a few nights. If it wasnt for this generous family and the hours they have put in I would not be racing.

Considering they also had their own two Superstocks to prepare. Thanks also to one of my older daughters for looking after the young ones whilst I was away lending a hand where I could.

10 Superstocks were at Meeanees opening on Sunday night,6 locals were ready for the season opener, 55B Tony True, 59B Wally True, 10B Sam Bartholomew, 7B Shane Mellsop, 8B Craig Owens, myself and 4 visitors 2 from Wanganui along with 31P Andy McCabe and 5G Joe Faram.

Race 1 and yer blowing a lot of smoke so pulled up, checked , went again, same thing, rocker cover gasket had split,so thanks to some silicon from Craig Owend(8B) this was fixed but I knew I had other problems as well such as no power steering.

Race two without steering couldnt get round the track properly and was also popping abit after half way down the straights so waited .  Andy won the first race so had some fun with him, he managed to get me back with a whack in the side and spun me up on one of my attempts. I also had a flat front left but finished the race in 5th.

No sooner than we had changed a wheel etc it was time for race 3 no starter so had to be pushed started, by now my arms were nearly falling of from trying to steer. This time Joe was my target, I kept missing till second to last lap when I clipped him with not much effect, last lap i had him scrapping the wall but couldnt turn my wheel properly to actually put him up the wall. I chased him to the last corner and took a dive at him but couldnt steer around  and cannoned into and  of the wall, finished 5th again.

Looking over the damage, the next day(cant see a damn thing in the Meeanee Pits) power steer belt was broken in half, other fan belt had flipped over, ignition terminal on the switch had come apart hence no starter, and my front axles are stuffed, a couple of cracks here and there in the chassis to weld, And number one cyclinder isn’t firing so will have to be checked.

Over all not too bad for being in the car for the first time since last season , usually always have gremlins, but man it is hard to steer these things without steering lol,

This Saturday it's of to Palmerston North for the first round in the Placemakers Superstock Series. Hope there is at least one garbage can(tank) to dispose of.
